Brief information
The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, MACBA) is the city's main center for contemporary art, opened in 1995. It hosts exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, video art, and performance, covering art from the second half of the 20th century to the 21st century.
The building itself is another attraction: the minimalist architecture by Richard Meier, with its glass facades and white surfaces, symbolizes openness and light. The square in front of the museum is popular with skateboarders, making the area particularly vibrant.
🚲 It's easy to get to MACBA by bicycle from the Gothic Quarter, and for longer routes, it's more convenient to choose a Wanna Bike e-bike.
