Brief information
Plaça d’Espanya is one of Barcelona's key squares, created for the 1929 International Exhibition. It is flanked by two "Venetian Towers," and at its center stands a monumental fountain with allegories of Spain's seas and rivers. From here, the Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina leads the eye towards the National Palace and Montjuïc hill.
On the perimeter is the former Las Arenas bullring, now a shopping center with a panoramic terrace offering views over the city. In the evening, the area comes alive with lights, and at the foot of Montjuïc, the "Magic Fountain" show takes place.
🚲 The square is easy to explore by bike or scooter, and the climb to Montjuïc is more comfortable on an e-bike.
